Buying beauty products can be expensive and you don’t always know what ingredients they are putting into them. I believe in keeping it simple and of course, on a budget! The lip scrub that I have made is a lemon lip scrub but you can use any kind of essence or none at all if you want to keep it really natural. All you need is 3 simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen cupboards, these are: sugar, lemon essence (or other) and coconut oil (other oils are fine). You can create this cute little lip scrub for yourself or make a batch of them to give as gifts at Christmas. Everyone can benefit from a lip scrub, especially when the weather gets colder and our lips get dryer.

To make, you will need:

  • 1 tsp lemon essence (or fresh lemon)
  • 1 ½ tsp melted coconut oil
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
Ingredients to make a lemon lip scrub: granulated sugar, coconut oil and lemon essence.

Method:

Mix the coconut oil and lemon essence together in a bow until combined, then add the sugar in gradually until it forms a scrub like texture. The sugar is the part that is going to do the scrubbing so keep adding if it doesn’t feel ‘scrubby’ enough for you. Once all the ingredients are combined, transfer it to a small container and keep it in the fridge.

To use:

Dab a small amount onto your finger and smother over your lips, you can use your finger or a toothbrush for extra exfoliation. Use a warm flannel to remove the scrub once exfoliated and use a balm on your lips to moisturise.

Voila! Its as simple as that, 3 simple ingredients and 5 minutes work. You could make a whole range of difference scrubs by just changing the essence: strawberry, vanilla, almond etc the list is endless! Have fun with it 🙂
